Holiday Makeup Look with a Kissable Pout

Hello beautiful friends,

As the days get shorter and the air gets cooler, it’s time to pull out our black dresses, cozy sweaters, boots and of course, red lipstick!  If you ask me, there’s no better way to dress up a look than with a red lip.

Last week, I shared my holiday gift guide in a LIVE, virtual trunk show and it was SO much fun! In case you missed it, check it out here.

I took the opportunity to get dressed up and play with a more dramatic than usual makeup look.  I decided to film myself getting ready so you can learn a few tips on doing your own makeup for your next holiday soiree.

I’m calling this my “lazy perfection” holiday look that makes you look fresh, glowing, and full of cheer. =)  Why?  Because every product is easy to use, you can have it done in a flash and the red lip is perfectly FESTIVE!

This 10-minute application (okay, I know the video is actually 15 minutes but that's just because I was nervous filming- I’m committed to getting better!) is a breeze and includes a few back pocket tricks that’ll last you into the holidays and beyond.  PLUS: It's a pretty good before + after! ;-)

Enjoy!

First, I primed my skin with the Ilia Primer so that my makeup would stay in place (this is important if you’re going to dance, have oily skin or be wearing makeup for more than 8 hours).  Otherwise, skip it.  Even though I had planned to, I didn’t end up dancing in this video. ;-)

For my eyes, I used the Ilia Eye Tint in Gleam and Umber.  Gleam went all over as a base color and Umber was placed on my lower lids for some contrast.  Next, I used the Ilia Eye Shadow Palette in Cool Nude.  I selected the metallic mauve color for my lids. Next, the bisque color under my brow bone.  And, the matte reddish-brown dusted under my lower lashes, as a soft eye liner.  On the top, I used the gel eyeliner pencil in Twilight (black) or a soft, smokey finish.  And finished my eyes with the Limitless Mascara after curling my lashes first. (Ps. will be back in stock later this week!)

I also filled-in my brows with my Copal brow pencil in Dark Brow and set them with the Copal clear brow gel.

To even out my red skin (sheesh, I was so flushed in this video!) I used the Ilia True Serum Foundation all over.  Since the Ilia Concealer in my color (# 2 yucca) is still on backorder, I grabbed an old favorite from Fit Glow to use under my eyes.  Lastly, I set with the Ilia powder.

Being that I didn’t need to add any more pink to my skin, I skipped blush and went straight for a bronze glow instead with the Ilia Bronzer in Dune.

To finish the look, I used my current crush -- Madame Gabriela “Paris at 7pm”A classic elegant, powerful and perfect true red that flatters all skin tones and reveals your best lips yet.
