Enchanted Bee & Thistle Inn Wedding
August 23, 2017

Olivia + Joris

July 1st, 2017
Enchanted Garden Wedding
Our beautiful, doe eyed, bride Olivia was truly a treasure. She expressed a wish keep her natural beauty and glow and create a look that does not require much makeup at all. What makes us special here at Jennie Fresa Beauty is creating that “no makeup” makeup look and helping our brides look and feel as comfortable as possible on their very special, and magical day. When we finished, Olivia was beaming! We wish Olivia + Joris many enchanted days together.

Elihu Island, Stonington Wedding
August 23, 2017

Allison + Justin

June 24, 2017
Stonington Sweethearts
This girl! I love everything about her! I might be a little biased because she grew up in Stonington CT (also my stomping ground), she loves diy projects (my weakness) …and well she is just so darn likable! For Allison’s wedding day look she wanted a bit more of a modern, chic vibe to play off of the bohemian setting of the farms on Elihu Island.
We played up her gorgeous eyes with a bit more bold contrasting eye shadows using golds, deep smokey browns and lots of mascara. Lipstick was a sweep of deep nude to intensify her natural lip color and we finished with touch of bronzer with a soft rosy cheek. I was honored to have played a small part in Allison and Justin’s amazing Elihu Island wedding! Congratulations to the two of you!

Avon Old Farms Academy Wedding
August 23, 2017

Liz & Jake
June 17 2017

A Vision of Rose Gold

Liz and Jake met at camp at the Avon Old Farms Academy, so it made perfect sense that these two love birds tie the knot at the beautiful grounds they grew to know and love. Such a sweet bride and a vision in touches of rose gold. Even her romantic, blush ballgown was a dream in a hue of soft pink. So lovely, the pink wedding gown even got the stamp of approval from Grandma! Congratulation Liz and Jake we wish you all the best!

Jennie’s Travel Style Diary: France
August 23, 2017

Doug and I just returned from a soul-stirring ten day vacation in France. Our trip started with a two day stay in Paris where we resided in an old romantic flat in the heart of St.Germain. We then ventured off to the French Riviera, also known as Côte d’Azur. Our airbnb was located in the city of Nice, about a 5 minute walk from the infamous cobalt blue sea. We also took a few day trips to surrounding villages such as Cannes, St. Tropez, Eze, Monaco and Monte Carlo. It was truly a magical adventure!

I love to travel and I love to shop. So for me, preparing my outfits for this trip was both exciting and fun. You may not know this about me, but I’m a huge fan of consignment shopping. Not only because I feel like I’m doing my part to be environmentally responsible, but also because I love designer fashion and the thrill of the hunt.

After sharing a few photos of our trip on my personal Instagram account @jennieontheblock_1 a couple of friends requested I spill the details on my fashion finds and beauty products so I decided to put together this blog post and share my “french style diary” with you. I hope you enjoy it and maybe find some inspiration for your next trip!

First, let me tell you about my favorite places to shop consignment on-line. My most recent obsession is Tradsey. They sell authentic, designer fashion for less. And, the best part is you can list your own items and share them with someone who will treasure them just as much as you do. Voila, cash back to buy more! 😉 I also enjoy using The RealReal and PoshMark.

My local favorite is Fantasia in Old Saybrook, CT. I used to do serious damage at 2ndTimeAround in NYC but they recently closed their doors (wahhhhh!) now that online shopping has taken demand. If I’m not shopping second hand, I’m likely looking for a deal at Off Saks (their online selection is WAY better!) or shopping locally at one of my favorite neighborhood shops like Bella Perlina, The Dressing Room or Khaki & Black, because let’s be honest, shopping small is important too!

On a lovely stroll one afternoon in Nice, I stumbled upon a very unassuming second hand shop (Pomme Glamour). In fact, if the lady with the puffy lips floating in front of me didn’t stop to gaze in the windows, I might have even passed by without looking twice. Luckily, she caught my attention and I decided to walk in. Not only did I walk in, I walked out with the ultimate consignment score! Authentic, navy-blue, patent-leather Chanel flats, size 6 1⁄2 in excellent condition. WHAT?!! I immediately imagined a chic, Parisian woman walking endless miles up and down Champs Elysees and knew I had to have them! (part of the experience is imagining stories of previous owners–it’s so fun, hehe!).

I kept my beauty regime simple on this trip. After all, the modern French woman knows how to swing the “effortless chic” look like no other. Perhaps it’s that “je ne sais quoi” attitude. Either way, I needed to master that perfectly imperfect look, so I decided to embrace mussed up hair

and minimal makeup. I carried Coola Cucumber SPF, translucent powder and two red lipsticks, RMS “content” & NARS “annabella:, which became my best fashion accessory. Dewy skin (thanks to french skincare staples: Vichy mask & Caudalie face mist), my red statement lip and dab of “frivole” Fragonard parfum (purchased from the factory in Eze) completed my everyday look. In the evening I wiped the day off with either a Kaia Naturals or BioSecure wipe, cleansed with Suntegrity Cleansing Oil (coming soon to JF) and applied PawPaw multi-purpose balm around my eyes and on my lips and slapped CV skinlabs calming lotion all-over.

RMS Lip color in BELOVED– my best accessory on this trip!  It’s the perfect French Girl Red!

French Beauty Finds

Parfum from Fragonard

I picked up the book, “Cooking for Picasso” by Camille Aubray at RJ Julia Bookstore in Madison prior to our departure- a tale of love, food and family involving a makeup artist (present day) and her chef grandmother who lived in the French Riviera (in 1936). Um, yes, please!! The only problem was, with days so busy sightseeing and beach days packed with fascinating people-watching, I barely got through half of the book. Something to look forward to before summer’s end, I guess.

Now back to the wardrobe, below you’ll see a gallery of my looks and a credit reel for my threads. I would be remiss in not crediting my patient husband, Doug, for his efforts in photo journaling. It was a team effort and a lot of fun to document– for me anyway, lol. In all seriousness, some photos took some time in terms of art-direction (plenty of photo shoot experience coming into play there) and some shots were completely candid but it was all worth it, because I will cherish these photos and the memories forever.

Even though I appreciate good style, I’m no fashion expert. For me, it’s about self-expression and having fun. That said, I do want to note a few staples that you might notice reappear in my looks.
